Asian Canadian Women's Alliance launches
Toronto: The Asian Canadian Women's Alliance launched with an inaugural event on May 23.
In a packed room of Asian Canadian women from a diverse range of backgrounds, a Q&A panel discussion launched the beginning of the alliance. Moderated by journalist Jan Wong, the panel included Joy Kogawa, Anita Lee and Jenna Tenn-Yuk.
The alliance is a non-partisan network people who identify as Asian Canadian women, including diverse age, generations, ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations and spiritualities, both Canadian-born and newcomers to Canada.
Founding members of the group include Julia Shin Doi, Lynn Deutscher Kobayashi, Joy Kogawa, Maryka Omatsu and Pam Sugiman as well as women from across pan-Asian Canadian backgrounds.
The room was filled with exciting conversations about coming together to educate and advocate for equitable futures for all.
