Performance at The Creative School focuses on preparing our graduates with a range of skills they can use to succeed in any industry. In Performance: Design and Production, students experience unparalleled learning opportunities as they learn the ins and outs of live entertainment. From concept to public presentation, students explore digital production, design applications, production management and more. Our students gain the technical, creative and leadership skills needed to design, produce and manage live performances such as theatre, dance, concerts and festivals.

Performance: Design and Production grad, Alex Flack reflects on his experiences after graduating from the Design program at TMU.

The most memorable times for me during my time in the Performance Production program were getting to work on both Choreographic Works and Dances 2019 (that 2 minute mid show dance floor changeover is still a core memory). I really enjoyed the collaboration between my peers in both Production and Dance, and get to bring artists' visions to life. The program really set me up for success when it came to the importance of critical thinking, collaboration, communication and professionalism.

Alex Flack

Alex is a proud graduate of the TMU School of Performance (formerly, RTS!). Since graduating he has had a steady career in both live performance and television production. Working in roles such as Producer, Production Manager, Stage Manager, Talent PA and Call Sheet Coordinator. Places worked include Mirvish, Canada’s Wonderland, Talk is Free Theatre, Toronto International Film Festival and Blue Ant Media. Alex is passionate about creating memorable experiences for both audiences and cast/crew alike, starting from the lobby all the way to the production office.

Alex has recently been spending his summers working as the Senior Coordinator, Festival Services for TIFF. In the off season he freelances in Television Production and has been fortunate to work on large scale competition reality shows such as Canada’s Drag Race and The Amazing Race Canada.

No one can ever for sure know what is next, but I hope to continue down the path of getting to work for Canadian entertainment giants and provide memorable experiences for both crew and audiences alike.
