Katherine Smith is an artist, production manager, and administrator with 20 years of experience in the industry. She joined the team at the Capitol Theatre (Port Hope) as the Director of Production in January 2022, with a mandate to implement a new professional production department, build a production studio for props and wardrobe, and to support year-long programming in both venues at the theatre.
Katherine began professional theatre career at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre where she served as the House Technician in both venues as well as the Head Carpenter. In 2013 Katherine moved to Sudbury Ontario, where she worked at the Sudbury Theater Centre for several years as the Head Carpenter, Production Manager, and Director of Operations.


Katherine’s freelance and contract work as a PM and TD, include companies such as Common Boots Theatre, Nightwood Theatre, Timeshare Productions, Jazz Sudbury, and The Sudbury Music Festival.


In her spare time Katherine enjoys putting her feet in the Ganaraska River, curling, and all things miniature.
