Biography

After six years working as an architect in Shanghai, Wanlin relocated to Toronto following the COVID-19 pandemic and began her journey as a digital artist and designer. She trained as a UX designer, interactive developer, and front-end developer at Sheridan, where her passion for digital art expression was ignited.

Wanlin explores digital media and programming tools to convey themes of self-awareness and gender dynamics on social media, as well as the effects of non-native language diversity in cross-cultural communication. Drawing from her architectural background, she compares digital spatial perception with traditional architectural spaces, expressing these ideas through digital art. Humor plays a key role in her work, sparking light yet meaningful ( fun) dialogue with her audience.

She views digital interactive products as the ""smallest unit of revolution,"" using her art to address and reflect on … whatever.

Why Digital Media?

I want to read more, explore my areas of interest in a more academic way, and deepen my understanding of these topics. This program offers a supportive, interdisciplinary environment that pushes me beyond my comfort zone, encouraging me to think across boundaries and explore new possibilities. I also want to create something tactile in a collaborative and supportive setting.
