Jake Hamilton is a multidisciplinary designer, communicator, and artist based in Toronto. Jake holds an Honours BA in Professional Communications from TMU's Creative School, where his writing was publicly featured by both the School of Professional Communications and the School of Graphic Communications Management. During this time, his undergraduate thesis project focused on American reproductive rights and media depictions of pregnancy in the United States.
After graduating, Jake spent time as a designer at MLSE (Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment), contributing to large-scale partnership projects at Canada's largest sports and entertainment company. Jake then joined TMU's Social Ventures Zone (SVZ), Canada's leading social enterprise incubator, as Marketing & Communications Coordinator where he leads the development and execution of all promotional campaigns & PR efforts. Jake has also contributed marketing support to TMU's Office of Zone Learning and the Government of Ontario.
Outside of his work at the SVZ, Jake continues to work independently on client projects ranging from merchandise design to music video direction. Jake's work draws on both analog/traditional media techniques and digital media innovations, creating final products that feel both historically-informed and future-facing.
Why Digital Media?
I love making things, and digital media was what first showed me I could be someone who creates. Since then, digital media has provided me near-unlimited realization of concepts that would otherwise exist only in my head.
