Let us introduce ourselves; we are MDM 9.0, the 9th cohort of Toronto Metropolitan University’s Master of Digital Media program. We are an intensive 12-month professional program turning creators into digital media innovators. Our cohort is built of a vast team of interdisciplinary students hoping to disrupt the current world of digital media and shape its future. Since the beginning of September, each of us has been working tirelessly on our studies, creative projects and research to present our Major Research Projects (MRPs) at our year-end showcase: the MDM 9.0 Digital Summit, held on August 10th, 2022. This day is monumental for us, and we would feel honoured to have you attend and share the excitement and hard work we have put into our MRPs while in MDM program.
We are also ecstatic to announce that this will be the first in-person MDM Showcase since the start of the Pandemic, and it would mean the world for you to join us!

A Little About Us:
The Master of Digital Media is a graduate-level program that provides students with the theoretical and industry-related skills to become leaders in the world of digital media. Our cohort's journey began in the fall of 2021 and little did we know how transformative and inspiring the coming school year would come to be.
Members of our cohort hail from all corners of the globe and have varied interests, skill sets and experiences - although, what brought us all together is our thirst for knowledge, our desire to innovate and create change in the world of tomorrow.
Our world today faces numerous unprecedented challenges such as the coronavirus pandemic, climate change and disinformation on social media platforms, just to name a few. These unprecedented challenges require creative and innovative solutions, and in order to get to that point, it demands that we change ourselves.
At MDM, we began by learning about the current state and developments within the world of digital media. Since then, our professors have instilled the passion and inspiration it takes to research, and create our MRPs, which is allowing us to imagine and impact the future world of tomorrow through digital media.
Throughout this journey, we experienced profound changes through guidance from the MDM program, professors, staff & faculty, in their ways of challenging our ways of thinking and how to creatively collaborate together. We are no longer the same individuals that we were in the fall of last year, and this is a testament to the work being done at the Creative School, and in the Masters of Digital Media program, and who we are collectively as a cohort. Thank you, MDM, because of you we are ready to take on the world and its many challenges.
On August 10th our MRPs will be showcased in the following categories:
- Artificial intelligence
Artificial intelligence covers a wide range of innovations concerned with building smart machines capable of performing tasks that typically require human intelligence.
- Cryptocurrencies and NFTs
Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) refer to cryptographic assets on a blockchain with unique identification codes and metadata that distinguish them from each other and cryptocurrencies. These are digital assets that can circulate without the centralized authority of a bank or government.
- Digital Marketing and Business
Digital Marketing and Business are the promotion of brands to connect with potential customers using the internet and other forms of digital communication.
- Digital Storytelling, Communities and Culture
Digital Storytelling uses multimedia tools to bring narratives to life or discuss and analyze trends and events relating to culture and society as a whole.
- Gaming and Game Development
Gaming and Game Development will discuss video games, how they are created, as well as the community and culture surrounding them.
- Immersive Digital Experiences
These immersive experiences will pull you into a new or changed reality through technology, often but not limited to virtual reality (VR) or augmented reality (AR), these experiences aim of allowing you to enjoy an activity or product without it being there in person.
- UI and UX Design
UI and UX Design will focus on insights and practices to create products and interfaces that are enjoyable and meaningful to users.
We look forward to seeing you!
