Michael Kim
Michael Kim is a Toronto-based visual artist, photographer, and educator whose work explores the relationship between humans and the natural world. His practice focuses on three themes: human impact on the environment, coexistence within diverse communities, and how language and cultural barriers shape relationships. Through photography, video, photomontage, and photobooks, he reflects on environmental change as well as the emotional and social dynamics of contemporary life.
He holds a BFA in Photography and an MFA in Documentary Media and teaches in the Photography Media Arts program at Toronto Metropolitan University. As an educator, he is dedicated to mentoring emerging artists and fostering critical engagement with contemporary photographic practices and new media technologies. Kim’s work has been exhibited in galleries and festivals across North America, including Scotiabank Nuit Blanche and the Toronto Urban Film Festival. His creative and academic contributions continue to position him as an active voice in Toronto’s arts community.
