Professional Expense Reimbursement accrual cap

Dear Colleagues,

As you may recall, last Spring a decision was made to waive the Professional Expense Reimbursement accrual cap of $4,000 in light of the impacts of the pandemic on conference travel and other normal professional development related expenses. We had indicated that the $4,000 maximum would be reinitiated as of July 1, 2021.

Given the ongoing restrictions imposed by the pandemic, the $4,000 maximum will not be reinitiated as of July 1, 2021. RFA members will instead be permitted to accrue a maximum of $6,000. Effective July 1, 2022, the maximum will be determined by the provisions of the renewed collective agreement.

We wanted to ensure members were aware of the above so that they are not spending funds on lower priority items prior to July 1, 2021, simply to bring their PERF balance down so they would not have money clawed back if they were over the maximum accrual.
