Dear Colleagues,
We, Chris Evans and Saeed Zolfaghari, are writing to provide you with an update on the revision of the Appointment of Academic Administrators Policy (the “AAA Policy”).
The Advisory Committee
As you may recall, an advisory committee was formed as a response to the community feedback that we received. The committee was responsible for reviewing and making recommendations to the administration before submitting the revised Policy and the new AAA Procedures to the Board of Governors. Their final report was submitted on June 19, which included their proposed amendments. All files were posted on the Provost website shortly thereafter.
Final AAA Policy and Procedures
Ryerson’s administration has reviewed the feedback and proposals from the committee, and many of the suggested changes have been accepted. The final version of the new AAA Policy and Procedures will be submitted to the Board of Governors for approval on June 29. These documents, along with the Advisory Committee’s report, can be found on the Provost’s Reports & Policies page under the AAA tab: https://www.torontomu.ca/provost/reports-policies/
We would like to thank the members of the committee: Professor David Checkland, Professor Andrew McWilliams, Julia Shin Doi, General Counsel & Secretary of the Board of Governors and Professor Anver Saloojee (Chair), for their thorough and expeditious work.
We believe these changes will ensure that the recruitment and appointment of academic administrators is done in a fair and appropriate manner, respecting the collegial governance model and the involvement of Ryerson’s academic community in these important decisions.
Sincerely,
| Chris Evans Interim Provost and Vice-President Academic |
Saeed Zolfaghari Vice-Provost, Faculty Affairs |
