We are pleased to invite you to participate in the 2017-18 offering of the Provost’s Academic Leadership Program by submitting a letter of interest to your Faculty Dean.

PROVOST’S ACADEMIC LEADERSHIP PROGRAM: 2017-18

Now in its third year, the Provost’s Academic Leadership Program is a formalized academic leadership program designed to help strengthen the leadership culture at Ryerson. The program aims to:

- Provide an understanding of the complexities and challenges of academic leadership;

- Examine various models of academic leadership;

- Explore academic leadership in the context of collegial governance;

- Raise awareness of EDI and inclusive leadership and explore ways to foster an equitable, diverse, and inclusive climate;

- Improve the participants’ understanding of how to facilitate and respond to change within the university environment;

- Provide an understanding of the relationship between academic planning and the university, faculty and departmental budgets;

- Bring participants together in order to gain an understanding of cross-faculty or discipline specific leadership challenges/environments.

Participants will attend a series of six one-day sessions that will explore 12 leadership development topics through “learn-from-leaders” sessions, workshops, and simulations.

The program will run over an 8-month period and will be held at venues off-campus.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

The program is limited to 12 participants (ideally, two participants per Faculty). Given the small size of the program, participation will be limited to tenured faculty.

Interested tenured faculty members are invited to submit a letter of expression of interest to their respective Faculty Dean outlining why they are interested in the program and how they meet the criteria described below.

Participants will be selected based on the following criteria:

- A demonstrated interest in academic leadership;

- Potential for growth as a leader;

- Involvement in leadership activities.

The selection will also be based on ensuring diversity among the program’s participants.

The deadline for submission is MONDAY, JUNE 5, 2017.
