Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU)’s Sport Media degree program turns your passion for sports into a dynamic career in the only program of its kind in Canada. Based in the heart of Canada’s media capital, you’ll gain practical experience in sport journalism, marketing, business, live production, on-air hosting and more.
Experiential learning opportunities: Internship mandatory
Access elite internships, valuable networking opportunities and industry-leading facilities, including the Sportsnet RTA Production Centre located in the historic Mattamy Athletic Centre (formerly Maple Leaf Gardens). Here, you’ll work with professional-grade tools like a video switcher, digital audio console, 3D graphics system, replay system and more, all housed within TMU’s sports complex. It’s the perfect arena to build a standout portfolio and launch your career in sport media.

Sport Media alum recognized with an Emmy win
Juan Morales graduated from the Sport Media program in 2021 and has been relentlessly pursuing his dreams ever since. From working on creative productions for some of the world's largest sports organizations to becoming a social media content educator, Morales' success is a product of his unwavering work ethic, culminating with his most recent achievement that awarded him his first Emmy, recognizing his coverage of the NHL Draft Day.

Academic requirements for full-time, 4-year program
To be considered for admission, Ontario high school students must meet the following requirements:
- Completion of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
- Completion of 6 Grade 12 U or M courses with a minimum overall average of 70%
- Completion of the following required Grade 12 U course:
- English/anglais (ENG4U/EAE4U) (minimum grade of 70%)
An overall average of 70% is required for consideration. Due to competition, the average needed for admission can fluctuate each year (it depends on the number of applications received and the number of spaces available). The grade range at the top of this page represents the average required in previous years.
Academic admission requirements for all other applicants are available on the admission requirements page. If you haven’t been educated in Ontario, you may be considered with the equivalent of the Ontario requirements. TMU reserves the right to determine equivalency at its sole discretion.
