Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU)’s Graphic Communications Management is a one-of-a-kind degree program that blends creativity, technology and business. You’ll explore how ideas come to life — physically, on shelves and all around us.
Experiential learning opportunities: Internship mandatory
As you learn to design, produce, and manage printed materials, packaging and other physical media, you’ll build high-demand skills in design software, sustainable packaging, visual communication and production management. With over 75 years of industry connections and a built-in work-placement, you'll graduate with real-world experience, a strong project portfolio and the network to launch your career in a fast-moving and creative industry. You’ll also put your skills to work in a professional setting, thanks to a paid internship.

GCM student group wins the TAGA Helmut Kipphan Cup for the ninth time
TMU’s Graphic Communications Management student group took home the Helmut Kipphan Cup at the 2025 TAGA Annual Technical Conference, their ninth win since 2008. Their entry featured 5 research papers, a custom-designed journal, innovative adhesive-free packaging and a dedicated website. The team now sets its sights on a milestone 10th win in 2026.

Academic requirements for full-time, 4-year program
To be considered for admission, Ontario high school students must meet the following requirements:
- Completion of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
- Completion of 6 Grade 12 U or M courses with a minimum overall average of 70%
- Completion of the following required courses (minimum grade of 65% in each):
- Grade 12 U English/anglais (ENG4U/EAE4U preferred)
- Grade 11 U or M or Grade 12 U mathematics (one of: MCF3M, MCR3U, MHF4U, MCV4U, MDM4U)
- Recommended: Grade 12 M Principles of Financial Accounting (BAT4M) and/or Communication Technology (TGJ4M)
An overall average of 70% is required for consideration. Due to competition, the average needed for admission can fluctuate each year (it depends on the number of applications received and the number of spaces available). The grade range at the top of this page represents the average required in previous years.
Academic admission requirements for all other applicants are available on the admission requirements page. If you haven’t been educated in Ontario, you may be considered with the equivalent of the Ontario requirements. TMU reserves the right to determine equivalency at its sole discretion.
