As we draw closer to our end-of-year shows featuring the Fourth Year Acting Class, we’re delighted to be shining the spotlight on all the magnificent guest artists who are making it all happen.
From Oh, What A Lovely War, 2015
Logan Cracknell (external link) is a lighting Designer for Theatre, Dance, and Live Events who is based in Toronto, Ontario. Since 2012, Logan Cracknell has worked on a handful of productions with a varied selection of companies, from Toronto Fringe to Canada’s Wonderland. He now joins the creative teams of Hookman and Knives in Hens as the Lighting Designer.
“It is a little cheesy but I think everything gives me some levels of inspiration as a designer,” Logan shares. “Even the bad aspects of life have shaped my work and how I contribute to the storytelling we do in theatre as a designer.”
In particular, Logan often draws inspiration from video games, “especially when the game does something to break how we typically interact with the medium. It gets me thinking about how we can break the traditional expectations of theatre and design in a way that both provokes and engages our audiences.”
From Walk Unafraid, 2018
“The thing I hope students learn from their time working with me is that we are making art and we need to allow ourselves forgiveness and room to breathe as we all learn and grow throughout these processes,” Logan reflects. “Especially as an emerging artist I remember there being an anxiety of making a mistake and somehow that ruining everything. The reality is we will all make mistakes and that is fine and you just need to learn and grow from it.”
