The Chair of the Department of Electrical, Computer, and Biomedical Engineering (ECB) at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU), Amirnaser Yazdani, recently received the 2025 Modeling and Control Technical Achievement Award, sponsored by the IEEE Power Electronics Society. This prestigious achievement award “honors innovators and researchers who have made outstanding and sustained technical contributions to the advancement of power electronics in modeling and control” and recognizes Yazdani’s “contributions to the modeling, analysis, and control of power-electronically interfaced distributed energy resources.”

On receiving the award, Yazdani shared, “I am immensely proud of this prestigious award which recognizes not only my contributions but, in effect, also those of my students, associates, and collaborators throughout many years.” He added, “I also wish to sincerely thank my nominator and endorsers for their initiative and support.” Last year, Yazdani was also elected as an IEEE Fellow, in recognition of his research and training contributions to the electronics field.

“On behalf of FEAS, I congratulate Professor Yazdani on this exceptional achievement. His leadership in modeling and control advances both our research excellence and the education of future electrical engineers.”
