Raana Rahim

Raana Rahim is the Head of Office and Country Coordinator for the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) in Pakistan. Before joining ICMPD, Raana served as the Head of Office of the Islamabad Liaison Office of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA). During her tenure at UNAMA, she also served as Senior Political Affairs Officer covering the Central and Western regions of Afghanistan.

Raana studied law at Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto, Canada and began her legal career as Crown Counsel at the Ministry of the Attorney General, Ontario. She then embarked upon a successful private practice specializing in refugee, immigration and family law in Toronto.

Raana is deeply interested in developing mobility partnerships as a collaborative framework between countries of origin and destination. These partnerships aim to harmonize the labour and skill requirements of both partner countries while prioritizing the needs and rights of migrants.

Research focus while a Fellow with CERC

While at CERC Migration, Raana will explore the current Canadian immigration landscape, research migration management tools, learn from Canadian experiences and best practices, as well as develop new perspectives and insights that can be integrated into the ICMPD's programs and activities.
