MyPeer: Implementation and Evaluation of an App to Improve Sexual and Reproductive Health Among Immigrant Adolescents in Canada

Immigrant adolescents often face stigma, language barriers, and limited access to youth-friendly sexual and reproductive health information. MyPeer is a mobile app intervention designed with immigrant adolescents to provide culturally responsive sexual and reproductive health information and support access to youth-friendly services.

The objective of this project is to assess the feasibility and acceptability of MyPeer as a culturally responsive sexual and reproductive health intervention for immigrant adolescents in Alberta and British Columbia. The project aims to evaluate whether the app can provide engaging sexual and reproductive health information, support service navigation, and generate scalable lessons for inclusive sexual health education across Canada.

3. What implementation lessons emerge for culturally responsive sexual and reproductive health interventions?
4. How can app-based sexual and reproductive health education be scaled while remaining youth-friendly and inclusive?

MyPeer uses Community-Based Participatory Action Research and Human-Centred Design principles. The intervention evaluates a mobile app designed with immigrant adolescents as a sexual and reproductive health education and service navigation tool. The study involves app use over time and participant feedback through surveys and optional interviews.
