Bridging Divides Scholar Exchange Fellowship

Description
The Bridging Divides Scholar Exchange supports short-term research visits among partner universities in the Bridging Divides network: the University of British Columbia, University of Alberta, Toronto Metropolitan University, and Concordia University.
The Fellowship is open to PhD students and early career scholars (including postdoctoral fellows, research associates, and assistant professors). Each Fellow will spend one month at one of the partner universities to collaborate on research, exchange ideas, and strengthen academic and civil society networks across institutions.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a two-page outline to their university lead describing:
- The objectives of their proposed visit
- Planned activities and collaborations
- Preferred timing for the exchange
Fellowship Details
- Duration: 1 month
- Stipend: $5,000 (in addition to any existing salary or scholarship from Bridging Divides)
- Eligibility: PhD students or early career scholars affiliated with Bridging Divides at one of the four partner universities
- Number of Awards: Minimum of 3 and up to 6 fellowships per university awarded annually
- Each university will send an equal number of students per partner university (for example, TMU will send one student to U of A, one to UBC and one to Concordia - up to a maximum of two students per institution)
Application Deadline
Applications for exchanges taking place in the 2026 calendar year must be submitted by November 15, 2025.
