Michael Butac (he/him) is a second-generation Filipino cis-gay man located on Treaty 13, and a PhD Candidate in the Urban Health program at Toronto Metropolitan University. His dissertation explores the experiences of 2SLGBTQ+ racialized young adults who are aging out of youth social services in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. He has an academic background in Psychology, Early Childhood Studies, and Addictions and Mental Health. Michael has worked for non-profits supporting 2SLGBTQ+ youth and people living with HIV/AIDS, as well as academic advising and teaching at Humber Polytechnic. Michael is passionate about increasing representation of 2SLGBTQ+ racialized voices in health and social care research and academic spaces.
