Yusuf Said Yildirim is a passionate Master’s student in Criminology and Social Justice with hands-on experience in youth justice, community advocacy, and social justice research. Having immigrated to Canada alone as a minor, he is deeply committed to contributing to the development of fair, inclusive, and effective justice and social policies, particularly in the areas of youth justice, immigration, and labour. His firsthand experiences with these challenges have shaped his dedication to building a more equitable and just future, while supporting those who are most in need.

Through the Bridging Divides Graduate Student Stipend, Yusuf is building on his experiences in immigration support, youth probation, mentorship, shelter supervision, and food insecurity research. His goal is to conduct research on underexplored issues in criminology and social justice that affect communities and to apply this knowledge to initiatives that bridge divides. In the long term, he aspires to become a professor, teaching and mentoring future students while contributing to the academic foundations that will shape a brighter future.
