Jane Tran

Jane Tran is pursuing a Masters in Planning and Urban Development at Toronto Metropolitan University. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication & Tech Studies and English from the University of Toronto, where she developed a passion for understanding how community narratives affect perceptions of place, migrant integration, and the planning of inclusive cities.

As a research assistant at TMU, she worked on interviewing newcomer food entrepreneurs and examining how they navigate the built environment, infrastructure, and community integration. 

Jane’s current research seeks to combine spatial mapping of exclusionary rental patterns with digital storytelling of newcomers’ lived experiences, making their housing struggles more visible and informing more equitable and inclusive policy solutions.
