Unreal Engine is revolutionizing the film industry, driving live-action and animation production innovation through previsualization and virtual production. Known for its high-quality real-time rendering and powerful toolset, Unreal Engine enables filmmakers to create stunning visuals and immersive environments at reduced costs, transforming industry practices and independent projects.
Creative School student Robert Della Rossa, a self-taught 3D generalist with extensive Unreal Engine cinematics and virtual production expertise, will lead these sessions, focusing on combining traditional production techniques and Unreal Engine. These entry-level workshops are designed for students and industry professionals who want hands-on experience with the world of Unreal Engine and upgrade their storytelling and skills.

Workshop Series Details
- Description: This workshop is an introduction to building environments in Unreal Engine 5. Starting from scratch, participants will leave with a complete 3D environment to be used in their next game, film, or live experience. Together, we will walk through the full pipeline, from concept to greyboxing, asset collection and final assembly, while introducing key tools and methods for developing your Unreal Engine skills. Designed for beginners and those looking to strengthen their foundations, this session will provide practical experience in creating environments step by step.

- Delivery: In-Person
- Description: Enhance your skills by bringing real-world lighting and camera techniques into 3D space with our in-depth Camera and Lighting workshop in Unreal Engine 5. Learn how to simulate real-world cameras and lights inside a virtual environment. Through hands-on exercises, you will build a studio portrait setup and explore approaches to lighting outdoor environments. This session will deepen your understanding of cinematic techniques and show you how to apply them to create visually stunning and realistic virtual cinematics.

- Description: Pre-vis is an essential part of the pre-production process that allows creative teams to visualize entire film sequences before filming begins. In this workshop, participants will take a script and shot list to create virtual storyboards, then bring them to life through simple camera and character animation. Using free software, you will learn how to build previs and animatics that strengthen storytelling, improve collaboration, and support a smoother production process for your next project.

Meet Your Expert Instructors

Robert Della Rossa
Robert Della Rossa is a filmmaker, 3D generalist and educator, taking pride in finding the intersection between traditional media and emerging technology, in order to find new ways to tell stories and collaborate with others. Working in virtual production, motion capture, and visual effects, Robert has taken this knowledge and, for the past three years, has been teaching Unreal Engine and production workflows to students and industry professionals. Collaborating with organizations such as Epic Games, the Canadian Society of Cinematographers, Toronto Metropolitan University and Just BGraphic.
