Toronto Metropolitan University’s Professional Music program has been named to Billboard’s 2025 list of top music business schools (external link, opens in new window) , spotlighting colleges and universities that provide the next generation of music executives and artists with the skills to thrive in today’s industry.

The first program of its kind in Canada, Professional Music at TMU is designed for both artists and non-performers, blending music fundamentals with business, production, and hands-on learning. Students complete 240 hours of internships, gaining access to leading technologies, professional mentors, and a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.

The program’s success is reflected in the achievements of its alumni, including Juno-nominated artist Carina of GirlPow-R, NXNE People’s Choice Award winner Daphne, and producer Selah Weekes, known for his music production tutorials on YouTube.

"Thrilled to share that the Professional Music program at The Creative School, Toronto Metropolitan University, has been named to Billboard’s global list of top music business schools — the first Canadian program ever featured," said Dr. Charlie Wall-Andrews, Assistant Professor, Creative Industries and Program Director, Professional Music. ”Built in collaboration with industry partners, this program empowers the next generation of artists, entrepreneurs, and leaders. With our first graduating class only months ago, alumni are already making meaningful contributions. The future of Canada’s music industry is in good hands."

This recognition affirms The Creative School’s commitment to combining creativity, business strategy, and industry collaboration — empowering students to shape the future of music from the heart of Toronto.
