GCM student group wins the TAGA Helmut Kipphan Cup for the ninth time
TMU’s Graphic Communications Management (GCM) student group has claimed the prestigious Helmut Kipphan Cup for the ninth time at the 2025 TAGA Annual Technical Conference (external link, opens in new window) .
Hosted every March, TAGA’s conference brings together industry and academic leaders in graphic communications. The student competition challenges groups to design a technical journal, website, and supporting materials — including a custom T-shirt and an innovative, adhesive-free package.
TMUTAGA’s (external link, opens in new window) entry featured five research papers from the GCM490 thesis course, all professionally edited and laid out to match the team’s creative journal design. Their work was also showcased on a custom-built website: tmutaga.com.
First winning the cup in 2008, TMUTAGA has become a consistent presence in the competition. Their 2025 win fuels their ambition to reach a milestone tenth victory at the 2026 conference in Chicago.
