郝邦宇 Steven Hao (he/him) is a Chinese-Canadian actor, singer, writer and director born and raised in China. His passion for performance and creating art began as early as he was in elementary school, he wishes to use the skills he has to tell stories that creates everlasting memories in the minds of his audiences.

During his time at XU, Steven has had the opportunity to work with some of Canada’s top theatre instructors including Jennifer Wigmore, Marianne McIssac, Tim Welham, Sheldon Rosen, Cole Lewis, Lisa Cox, Phillipa Domville, Irene Pauzer and Cynthia Ashperger. He also had the pleasure of portraying Baptista in Untamed, an original play by playwright Eva Barrie, as well as originating the role of Shaun in Margot Greve’s original musical Killing Time.

Outside of XU, Steven will begin directing his third theatrical production I and You by Lauren Gunderson at the Terra Firma Festival in Spring of 2022.

Steven is looking forward to facing the many challenges ahead no matter how treacherous the path. He wishes to thank everyone who has helped him get to where he is today, lean on those who are accompanying him into the future, and stay open to all the possibilities that await ahead. “Excelsior!”
