Staff Share: Scott Martin
Even when school is not in session Performance at The Creative School is a hub of activity which is largely because of our staff. During the summer months technical staff are at work maintaining, updating and caring for our studio spaces and equipment that we use so thoroughly during the school year.
Scott Martin is the Technical Director for Performance at The Creative School and he's sharing some of the highlights of his summer!
At work, this is the first of many years where there hasn't been summer camp, floods or plagues keeping me busy, so Associate Technical Director, Kaya, and I have been updating paperwork and drawings and as pictured below, repairing a small mountain of broken cables and equipment. As much as I'm enjoying the more measured pace of the summer, I'm looking forward to the energy that our students bring to the campus and the wonderful challenges we get to solve together.

My summer has been fairly quiet this year. With my wife, Emily, starting a new job at the Capitol Theatre in Port Hope, the few vacation trips we had planned went out the window, so we have found this summer to be a wonderful surprise with how low-key it has been. I've spent most of the summer hanging out at home or in local area parks and trails with my kids and 2 (and very recently 3) dogs. When I'm not spending time with my family I am an avid motorcyclist and travel all over Eastern and Central Ontario. I find it a marvelous way to spend time alone with myself in my helmet while seeing some of the breathtaking scenery our province has to offer when you get away from the main roads.
