What are you currently working on? How does your diversity affect this work?

I am currently focusing on school, but often I work on different creative hobbies. Even with school assignments, I try to connect all of my work to something meaningful in my life. My background has given me so much inspiration and experiences to share through my work.

What drew you to the School of Performance, and how does your diversity affect your experience?

I originally applied to another program at X University. Theatre became a big part of my life in high school, and despite being very interested and passionate, I could never see myself being a part of it. I felt like there was no place for me in theatre. When I got waitlisted for the other program, I took a step back to examine what it was I truly wanted to do. Then I decided to go for it and apply to the School of Performance, and now I’m here.

Do you have anyone you admire? Anyone you look up to?

I look up to my parents. Both immigrants, their hard work and dedication is something I strive for. They both have supported me so much.

Are you aware of any support systems you would like to share for incoming students?

The school has counselling services that provide support for students through appointments. You can find their email on the website and reach out to book an appointment or ask any questions you might have.

Any advice for incoming students who might be coming from a similar background as you?

I know that sometimes I feel out of place. When I feel that way among peers and coworkers, I try to face the challenge with a determination to be a form of representation for someone else. Be the person that you wish you saw.
