Natalie Alvarez smiles softly.

After a rigorous selection process, Professor of Theatre and Performance Studies at the School of Performance, Dr. Natalie Alvarez has been appointed as the new Associate Dean of Scholarly Research and Creative Activities. This leadership role takes Natalie into the Dean's office, guiding FCAD in the development of initiatives relating to SRC among undergraduate, graduate and faculty projects. This new post will take effect July 1, 2021.

Additionally, Natalie's own research project in scenario-based, de-escalation and mental health crisis response curriculum has recently been taken to a new level with $3,500,000 from the Ministry of the Solicitor General. Natalie and her co-lead at WLU, in partnership with Toronto-based firm Dark Slope, will migrate their curriculum to VR with the awarding of this funding.

On behalf of Performance, sincere congratulations to Natalie for these very significant accomplishments. We are thrilled to see you and your work acknowledged in these ways.
