What to expect during this time of year

As the final days of summer roll in, it's time to start thinking about Orientation Week. If you haven't yet registered, make sure to sign up to count yourself in. Now is also a great time to familiarize yourself with MyServiceHub — an online system you'll be using a lot, and consider whether you may want academic accommodation support and/or peer mentorship.

Resources

Ryerson’s Orientation Week takes place the week before classes begin and gives incoming students the chance to connect with other new students, get familiar with their academic program, and get to know their way around campus. Our Orientation Week is designed to meet the needs of all new students. This year we’ll be hosting Orientation Week over two weeks (from Monday August 23 to Monday September 6, 2021).

The MyServiceHub Student Center is an online system that lets you manage all aspects of your academic, personal and financial information at Ryerson.

Using MyServiceHub, there are three different ways to search and enrol in classes and enrol in classes

A part of Student Wellbeing, Academic Accommodation Support (AAS) supports students with disabilities at Ryerson. We work with students to create and implement individualized academic accommodation plans so students can more fully participate in their studies. We work with any student enrolled at Ryerson who requires academic accommodation, regardless of program or course load.

The Tri-Mentoring Program’s (TMP) educational priority is to mentor each student using their individual experience to find their sense of belonging on campus. The “tri” represents our peer-to-peer, career, and group mentoring activities.

Words of advice

  • On the fence about attending Pre-orientation and other orientation events? If you can attend, it's a great way to learn about first year and help you make connections with students, staff and faculty. If you're unable to attend, know that you aren't behind or unprepared — there will be many opportunities to connect with the community.
  • As a student, there are several online systems that you will need to learn to use. Give yourself time to adjust and learn how to navigate them.
  • Mentoship is a great way to make connections with upper-year students; consider the Tri-Mentoring Program.
