Orientation 2023
Welcome new engineering students! The First-Year Engineering Office (FYEO) hosts transition and orientation initiatives throughout the summer to help you make your journey from high school to Toronto Metropolitan University successful.
If you have accepted your Offer of Admission, follow the First-Year Engineering Office on social media (@firstyeareng) to get ready with us during the summer before you start your first semester!

The Pre-Orientation, Orientation, and Post-Orientation (Engineering POP) programs are an opportunity to learn more about the social and academic aspects of university, get involved on campus early, meet upper-year leaders and ambassadors, gain valuable leadership skills, network and meet other students with similar interests before orientation week.
Pre-Orientation 2023
Begin your Toronto Metropolitan University experience by participating in our pre-orientation programs! Each program introduces students to TMU in highly engaged environments through interaction with upper-year students (First-Year Ambassadors), faculty and staff.
Check out below the upcoming pre-orientation events and sign up now to save your spot. You will get a confirmation email and calendar invite closer to the event date.
If you have any questions, direct message us through our social media @firstyeareng or email us at orientationlead@torontomu.ca.
Date: August 30, 2023
Time: 6:00 PM EDT - 8:00 PM EDT
Location: Virtual (Zoom) OR In-Person (George Vari Engineering Building, 3rd floor)
Parents will hear from FYEO's program director, Dr. Lamya Amleh, about the first-year experience and ways parents can best support their child during their first-year of university. There will be discussions about student support services, counselling, and will also be hearing from an Academic Advisor. The night will end off with a Q&A period in which you can ask all your burning questions about your child’s program.
If you are able to join us in-person, there will be campus tours tailored for parents happening from 5-6 PM. Students are welcome to attend. Each family is limited to 4 guests as there is limited space.
Date: September 1, 2023
Time: 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Location: Meetup at SLC building on campus
We have planned a meetup to help you get familiarized with downtown Toronto and to finally meet your online buddies and the FYAs in person!
Before you start school, meet like-minded students going through the same journey as you as we go explore Toronto together. We will point out food spots, grocery stores, medical clinics, and other resourceful places.
