We are hosting a planting activity and talk for the future Indigenous Healing Garden.

Rain date will be June 8.

What to expect

Participants will transplant plants/seedlings that were potted in April during TRSM’s Friends and Flowers planting event. Those plants will be ready to be transplanted into the future Indigenous Healing Garden for the summer season. Michael Mihalicz, Indigenous Advisor, Office of the Dean and Assistant Professor, TRSM, will lead a presentation titled Land-based Learning and Healing Through the Decolonization of University Spaces.

The event aims to provide a calm, grounding experience that integrates Indigenous knowledge around the use of plants to promote personal health and wellness while also contributing to a shared living space. Due to courtyard space, registration will be capped at 40 participants.

Native pollinators, Indigenous plant medicines, flowers and herbs will be planted into the garden. Gardening equipment (i.e. tools, gloves) and hands-on instruction will be provided during the event.

Light refreshments will be served.

Dress comfortably (in clothes that might get dirty), bring sunscreen, a hat, and wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes.
