Hello! Are you interested in learning how to strengthen your relationship with Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, and Metis) communities, or wanting to learn how to get involved? We invite you to our Fostering Allyship Tour / Discussion on June 26th, 2026 from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm on the DCC roof top, 8th floor. 

Please note that the event will be capped at 10 participants!

What to expect

We Welcome you to enjoy a tour of the Indigenous Food Ways Medicine Garden at the Urban Farm on the DCC, followed by a discussion with community members on fostering relationships with Indigenous communities and how we can strengthen our relationships! Light refreshments will be provided. 

About the organizers/team

Urban Farm, Indigenous Foodways Program: 

The Indigenous Foodways program aims to promote Indigenous wisdom and traditional agricultural practices through knowledge exchange and community engagement. Emphasizing the importance of honorable practices, the Indigenous Foodways program aims to uphold the principles of an honorable harvest by maximizing the social and ecological impact. This includes growing traditional medicines and making them accessible to the community while building meaningful and respectful relationships of reciprocity.

Indigenous Events and Special Projects is part of University Events and Ceremonies in the Office of the President, a dynamic team who organizes community events and gatherings for the entire TMU community. This includes:

  • Anishinaabe Giizhigad / National Indigenous Peoples Day 
  • Pwaaganigaawin / TMU Pow Wow
  • Ozaawaa Babigoyaan Giizhigad / Orange Shirt Day
  • Indigenous Education Week 
  • Waawiiyaa Niimiwin / Round Dance

Student Led Initiative: Hi! My name is Wyatt Wichert and I'm a 3rd year social work Indigenous student who aims to work in Indigenous communities across Turtle Island. I was inspired to host this event because of my experiences at TMU thus far.

Accessibility

Accessibility is limited due to the location of the Urban Farm on the DCC. This location is not wheelchair accessible and the garden can be difficult for those who have mobility concerns.
