What to expect

Angela Aula will give a virtual presentation about Inuit art and culture and share her experiences as an Inuit artist.

About the organizers/team

The events of the week are organized by a collective of Indigenous and non-Indigenous colleagues, led by Cher Trudeau, Administrative Coordinator, Indigenous Education Council and Crystal Osawamick, Manager, Indigenous Events and Special Projects in the Office of the President, among others. The collective includes staff from Saagawe in The Creative School, the Office of Indigenous Initiatives, and Gdoo-maawnjidimi Mompii Indigenous Student Services.

About Angela Aula

Angela was born in Iqaluit and raised in Hall Beach Nunavut and has lived in Toronto since she was eight. Angela paints murals around the city. To continue making Inuit art during the pandemic, She started doing make-up on TikTok and quickly gained almost 40,000 followers. Angela loves her Inuit culture and art and tries to keep it alive through her artwork and videos.

This event is part of Indigenous Education and Treaties Recognition Week at TMU

As part of TMU’s ongoing commitment to truth and reconciliation, this event will highlight the histories, cultures and treaty rights of Indigenous Peoples in Canada. Through presentations, discussions and community engagement, attendees will gain deeper insight into treaty relationships and their contemporary significance. Indigenous Education and Treaties Recognition Week (November 3 – 7) is a time to learn, reflect and engage in collective responsibility toward reconciliation.
