Learn Unreal Engine from two of the top industry specialists in North America: Nansy Khanano and Thiago Carneiro! Unreal Engine is a complete suite of 3D tools that enables developers to easily create real-time 3D content and experiences including next-gen games, animation, film, VFX and immersive experiences.

  • Description: This workshop introduces Virtual Production, providing a comprehensive overview of creating In-Camera Visual Effects (ICVFX) using Unreal Engine. Participants will gain an introductory understanding of real-time rendering pipelines for virtual production, focusing on asset ingestion, world-building, lighting, and final delivery for on-set operation. Additionally, concepts on optimization, project creation, naming conventions, project structure, and more will be covered. By the course's conclusion, you'll possess the foundational knowledge to begin working on VP projects.
  • Dates: Monday, May 6 - Wednesday, May 29, 2024 
  • Schedule: Monday & Wednesday’s 6-8 pm
  • Duration: 2 hours per session x 8 sessions. Total 16 hours over 4 weeks.

  • Description: In this workshop, you'll explore the fundamentals of crafting immersive worlds within Unreal Engine, tailored for animation, gaming, visual effects, and virtual productions. Alongside, we'll embark on two in-workshop projects designed to enhance your skills: one focusing on utilizing Quixel assets to construct a bustling urban environment and the other delving into leveraging Unreal Engine's landscape tools to create breathtaking exterior nature vistas. Participants will gain expertise in scene creation, lighting techniques, material application, seamless 3D model importing, and crafting virtual cameras for captivating cinematic sequences.

  • Description: Through hands-on projects and collaborative learning, participants will develop a comprehensive understanding of Unreal Engine's dynamic environment. By the end of the workshop, participants will have acquired the skills and knowledge required to navigate Unreal Engine confidently, enabling them to create compelling and visually engaging cinematic digital environments.

  • Description: Workshop participants will develop a solid foundation in Unreal Engine's essential lighting principles and post-processing techniques. Beginners will gain confidence in implementing various lighting setups, understanding the impact of post-processing effects, and optimizing their projects for optimal performance. Through interactive exercises and hands-on demonstrations, attendees will develop practical skills in creating visually appealing environments

Thiago Carneiro

Thiago Carneiro

Thiago is an experienced 3D generalist and Unreal Engine Virtual Production Artist with a demonstrated history of working in the higher VFX and education industries. Thiago collaborated with directors and producers on big projects like The Boys and Halo and operated Unreal Environments for several Start Trek productions. With a knack for real-time VFX, Thiago has contributed to the latest Avatar: The Airbender release. Thiago advises Epic Games on educational relationships across Brazil and Canada.

Nansy Khanano

Nansy Khanano

Nansy is a 3D environment artist who crafts immersive digital worlds, drawing inspiration from her background in art history. Nansy is known for creating historical 3D environments that transport players across eras. Nancy is also a dedicated educator and Unreal Authorized Instructor at The Creative School, Seneca College, and Conestoga College.
