Suleekha A. Hirsi
Suleekha Hirsi (she/her) is a Master of Planning student whose work examines the intersections of identity, equity, and urban policy. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Toronto in Political Science and Peace, Conflict, and Justice Studies, bringing an interdisciplinary lens to questions of space, governance, and belonging. Her research interests include placemaking, parks and open spaces, anti-Blackness in urban policy, migration and cities, and diversity and inclusive planning.
She has worked with municipalities, nonprofits, and social purpose organizations on housing affordability, transit access and placemaking, often centring marginalized communities in planning processes. Grounded in the recognition that urban policy both reflects and reproduces social inequities, her work examines how planning can move beyond exclusionary structures to foster inclusive, accessible, and sustainable urban environments.
