Penny Appeal Canada Social Accelerator Fund
The Penny Appeal Social Accelerator Fund was established by Penny Appeal Canada to support three high potential social ventures within the Zone Learning and Social Ventures Zone network. There are three cash grants available for socially impactful ventures with a value of up to $16,000.
Social Venture Prize
This pool of funding is offered to students in the Faculty of Arts working on community-based projects and students who are incubating social innovation projects in the Zone Learning Network. There are two prizes of $1,500 to be given for initiatives that are in the early stages and one prize of $3,000 to be given for initiatives that are in the ‘development’ stage.
Wes Hall Social Entrepreneurs Award
The Wes Hall Social Entrepreneurs Award is an annual award that supports five full-time undergraduate students of Caribbean descent at Toronto Metropolitan University who have a compelling idea for a business venture that will address a social problem, create changes in the community and make a difference to the lives of others.
Recipients will receive $4,000 and throughout the academic year, they will participate in a series of curated workshops about social entrepreneurship and building a social enterprise in the Fall semester, then be paired with an SVZ startup to gain work experience and mentorship in the Winter semester.
