Knowledge Mobilization

Our researchers are creating knowledge in order to share that knowledge with the broader community and with other researchers in their fields. Knowledge mobilization is an essential stage in the research process, necessary to circulate ideas, change paradigms and expand horizons.

Umberto Berardi (Architectural Science) chaired and hosted the 10th International Conference on Indoor Air Quality in Italy, at which research professionals from over 15 countries, as well as 11 students from Ryerson’s Department of Architectural Studies, met to discuss innovations in HVAC systems, smart technologies for zero-energy buildings, and ventilation and measurement techniques.

Naomi Hamer (English) helped organize Youngsters 2: On the Cultures of Children and Youth alongside the Association for Research in the Cultures of Young People (ARCYP). The four-day event brought together national and international scholars, artists, community activists and youth to dialogue about the issues young people face.

Anna Triandafyllidou (Sociology, Canada Excellence Research Chair in Migration and Integration) convened Migration 2030, a conference that looked at the next decade’s challenges and concerns surrounding the governance of migration in Canada and around the globe from the perspective of both academics and stakeholders.

Laurel Walzak (Media) and Joseph Recupero (Media) spearheaded the successful bid to bring one of the world’s top sport conferences to Ryerson. The 10th International Conference on Sport and Society saw leading scholars, academics and practitioners converge to discuss sport sociology, psychology, management, innovation, technology and media.
