Linas Kairys
Linas Kairys is a Canadian lighting designer, educator, and theatre professional whose work bridges live performance, technical production, and movement. He has designed lighting for more than 35 productions and has worked across theatre, concerts, festivals, and live events. Linas currently teaches lighting and production at Toronto Metropolitan University and works as an Assistant Lighting Designer with the Canadian Opera Company. He is a member of IATSE Local 659 and IATSE Local 873.
Linas holds a Master of Arts in Creative Media and Technology from Berklee College of Music in New York, specializing in Live Experience Design and lighting design, as well as a BFA in Performance Production from Toronto Metropolitan University (Ryerson University). He has also studied Lithuanian folk dance and choreography at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. His multidisciplinary background in design, technology, and dance informs an approach to lighting rooted in storytelling, movement, and collaboration.
