EducationHilliard studied Art History at the University of Toronto and holds an MFA from the Transart Institute through Plymouth University in the UK.

Kate Hilliard creates through movement, digital media, writing, and conversation and her performance themes are rooted in communication and transformation. She has been presented across North America and abroad, most recently at the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) and the Venice International Art Fair. Kate is the Artistic Director of Arts Orillia in Ontario, Canada, where she curates residencies and festivals to invite learning and community gatherings. She has taught at Toronto Metropolitan University since 2015.

Hilliard was a Dora Mavor Moore nominee for Best Choreography in 2019, and she received the 2021 North Simcoe Arts award for Community Impact Through Arts & Culture.
