Andrea Spaziani records improvised moving and talking to create choreographic scores with interdisciplinary artists. She is interested in dance as spatial sound, and wants to learn about how dance might be conveyed in ways that decentre its visual dimensions.
Recent projects include “Crisis of Froth” at the Emily Harvey Foundation in Venice (Italy), “Badlands: A Dance in Time” co-created with Matt Smith / Prince Nifty in-residence at Lobe 4D Sound (Vancouver) featuring Julia Male, Germaine Liu, and Sofi Gudiño, “DoppelTone.com” made with members of the CNIB, the film triptych “Aggro Infinitum: estrogen amnesia” co-created with Alicia Grant, and "Velour" for the graduating class of the Dance Arts Institute.
She was the recipient of a Chalmers Arts Fellowship in 2019, and was an Artist-in-Residence at Dancemakers from 2016 to 2019 with Amelia Ehrhardt as Curator.
She holds an MFA in Creative Practice from the Transart Institute, and is a PhD candidate at the European Graduate School.
