New future of work resources! Space planning and learning opportunities

March 29, 2022

To: All leaders

With in-person activity increasing on campus this spring, many leaders are implementing their future of work plans and trying out new ways of working. Testing flexible work schedules combining on-campus and remote activities, developing new norms for shared spaces, and reimagining what those spaces could be used for - each of these incremental changes brings us closer to a hybrid workforce.

Three streams

For leaders who are just getting started, check out the  (google slide) Playbook: Steps for transitioning to a hybrid workforce (external link)  in the Steps to Take section of our website, for an overview on where we’re headed and how we’ll get there. As a reminder, the Future of Work initiative supports leaders in implementing changes across three key streams: People, Technology, Workspace.

We’re excited to announce new resources to support you as you begin to reimagine how to use your workspace. Check out the new Workspace section of the website, and stay tuned for more resources coming soon for the People and Technology streams.

Workspace

New workspace planning guide!

We’re pleased to provide to you a new guide for the workspace stream,  (google slide) Introduction to Workspace Planning: How to determine workspace quantity and types (external link) . This guide will take you through the process for determining how much space you’ll require for your future of work plans and what space types will function best for your team.

Bookable workspaces

We’ve now secured a vendor for a university-wide hotelling software solution and planning and implementation are underway! While we work towards our software solution, we’re sharing new tools and templates you can download and adapt to practice booking shared spaces and start to implement your new ways of working. Learn more about bookable workspaces.

Learning Opportunities

How to Hybrid workshop series

How to Hybrid is a learning program to help leaders and employees enhance the skills needed for the shift to a hybrid workforce. Spaces are still available in our Trust Fosters Team Performance workshops for leaders and employees. Check out the available dates.

Knowledge Cafes

Join us for a series of Knowledge Cafés for leaders from across campus to share ideas and best practices in moving to the future of work. This peer learning environment provides leaders a space to connect, discuss and share future of work experiences, lessons learned, challenges and opportunities as they adopt and implement a hybrid work model. No commitment required, attend as many or as few sessions as is helpful and convenient for you!
