PhD Program Overview
PhD Students are required to complete four courses and three milestones in the program.

IMPORTANT COURSE ENROLMENT INFORMATION
- ES9001 Adv Studies in Env Policy Mgmt and ES9002 Research Methods: Env App Sc and Mgt are required PhD courses and will be offered every year. The graduate program administrator must enrol PhD students in these courses. Most other courses are available for self-enrol.
- Elective Groups A, B and C courses: As a general rule, electives are offered every other academic year on a rotating basis. The program reserves the right of changing the elective course offering pattern due to unforeseeable circumstances.
- Independent Study Courses (Group C): Students must submit a proposal form approved from their supervisor. These forms must be processed prior to the last date to enrol in courses for the term.
- GD1000 is a ‘place-holder’ course. All graduate students are enrolled in GD1000 in every term while they are actively studying in a graduate program. It is not a real course; there is no credit or grade attached to GD1000.
- Students may consider other program graduate level courses for credit with approval from their supervisor and the program director by submitting a (PDF file) Course Substitution Form. You will require approval from both the course instructor and the teaching department before enrollment.
- Graduate students have the option of auditing up to two courses during the duration of the program. Please complete (PDF file) this form.
