A front-row seat to TMU’s next big ideas

March 14, 2026

The TMU community is invited to drop in to the 3MT® Competition on Wednesday, March 25, noon – 2:30 p.m. on the 8th floor of the SLC.

Are you curious about the groundbreaking graduate student research happening at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU)? All of our TMU alumni are invited to experience it firsthand at this year’s Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition on March 25 at 12:00 p.m. Join us at TMU for a fast-paced, inspiring showcase of graduate research!

The 3MT competition challenges graduate students to present their research clearly and compellingly using only one slide and three minutes, testing their creativity, clarity, and communication, designed to make complex ideas accessible. The result? A dynamic event where big ideas and powerful storytelling meet.

Graduate researchers from across disciplines will take the stage to explain why their work matters, and how they are tackling real-world challenges to make a difference in diverse communities and contexts. You’ll hear firsthand about new ideas that are shaping our futures in science, technology, business, health, social innovation, and the arts, from the research leaders of tomorrow!

Alumni are invited to join us in person, to drop in during the event, or watch our live stream (external link) , making it easy to reconnect with the university community wherever you are. Whether you stay for one presentation or the entire competition, this is a chance to reconnect with your university community. If you’re downtown and on your lunch break, join us for lunch and watch the event live!

Organized by the Yeates School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, the event celebrates graduate student research excellence. It’s also a chance for you, as alumni, to reconnect with campus, support our students, and see how research at Toronto Metropolitan University is making an impact.

Join us Wednesday March 25, 2026 at 12:00 p.m., at TMUs Student Learning Centre (SLC) on the 8th floor. The SLC is located at 341 Yonge Street at the corner of Yonge and Gould.

Come by, cheer on our graduate student researchers, and reconnect with TMU!
