Real Estate Management ’18
Vice President, Value and Risk Advisory, JLL

Growing up in a lower-income household, Danny Su learned early on that financial stress can be a significant barrier to academic success and career advancement. While enrolled in Toronto Metropolitan University’s (TMU) Real Estate Management program in 2013, Danny had to juggle several part-time jobs while carrying a full course load.

Multiple scholarships provided by TMU helped Danny to not only alleviate some of those financial burdens, but also gave him the breathing space to grow. “The scholarships allowed me to focus more on personal, educational and professional development, rather than financial pressures,” he said. “They gave me the freedom to take on leadership roles.”

Today, as the Vice President of Value and Risk Advisory at JLL, a global commercial real estate and investment management company, Danny tirelessly gives back to the TMU community. He serves as a council member of the Real Estate Management Advisory Council at the Ted Rogers School of Management and holds the role of President of the Toronto Metropolitan Alumni in Real Estate (TMARE) group.

In recognition of Danny’s committed engagement and support, in 2022 he was the recipient of a Ted Rogers School of Management’s Alumni Achievement Award. Additionally, for his industry leadership and professional success, Danny was named to the inaugural cohort of TMU’s Alumni Rising Stars in 2025.

Determined to help other students who are navigating hardship like he once did, Danny recently launched the Danny Su and TMARE Real Estate Leadership Award, which will annually award $2,000 to an upper-year equity-deserving undergraduate student who demonstrates academic excellence and community involvement.

“Scholarships do more than ease financial burdens,” said Danny. “They allow students to take academic and extracurricular risks, engage more deeply with their communities and professors, and build leadership skills with confidence. It’s an investment that continues to shape their future long after graduation and will hopefully inspire the next generation.”

“Scholarships allowed me to focus more on personal, educational and professional development, rather than financial pressures ... they gave me the freedom to take on leadership roles.”
