TMU moves into the world’s top 15 per cent of universities in latest QS Rankings
TMU has been recognized among the top 15 per cent of universities worldwide in the 2025 QS World University Rankings, a reflection of its growing impact in research and academic excellence. This achievement underscores the university’s expanding global reputation and contributions to higher education.
School of Medicine earns national medical colleges accreditation of 16 new residency programs
TMU’s new School of Medicine made history by securing accreditation for 16 new residency programs from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the College of Family Physicians of Canada. This achievement marks the first time a Canadian medical school has been approved for so many new programs simultaneously. Close to 6,500 candidates have now applied for 94 available spots in the first cohort set to begin their studies in September 2025.
TMU breaks ground on world’s first digitally enabled building
TMU has broken ground on the Smart Campus Integrated Testing Hub — or SCITHub — the world’s first 100 per cent digitally enabled building. Set to open in 2025, the facility will integrate advanced technologies to research solutions for decarbonizing built environments and advancing Canada’s net-zero goals.
Ted Rogers MBA program ranks #5 in Canada by Bloomberg Businessweek
The Ted Rogers MBA program ranked fifth in Bloomberg Businessweek’s 2024-25 survey of Canadian MBA programs. The ranking is based on surveys from more than 15,000 students, alumni and employers, as well as employment and compensation data.

A new home for the Lincoln Alexander School of Law
The Lincoln Alexander School of Law will have a permanent home at 277 Victoria Street. The 11-storey building with 115,000 square feet of space will establish a highly visible presence for the law school at the most vibrant intersection in the country.

New research finds rare sugar can help manage blood sugar, reduce calorie intake
Researchers at TMU’s School of Nutrition, led by Professor Nick Bellissimo, are exploring the potential of allulose – a rare, naturally occurring sugar found in foods like figs and maple syrup. Their findings reveal that this low-calorie sugar, which is nearly as sweet as white sugar, can help reduce blood sugar spikes when added to food, offering promising benefits for health and nutrition.
