A pioneer in nonfiction and unscripted television, Arthur Smith has been a hands-on, trendsetting producer, creating innovative, larger-than-life formats at A. Smith & Co. Productions, which he founded in 2000. Smith has created some of the longest-running, culture-shaping unscripted series in television history. He was honoured as one of Variety’s “Titans of Unscripted TV” in 2022, inducted into the Realscreen Awards Hall of Fame in 2021, and awarded Broadcasting & Cable’s “Producer of the Year” in 2020. At TMU, Arthur has been an active guest lecturer and panelist in the RTA School of Media for years, including with the Master of Media Production program. Arthur’s generosity extends to his donation to the Arthur Smith Virtual Production Studio on campus, the Arthur Smith REACH Award for RTA students, and to RTA in LA, for which he provides financial support, established student travel awards, and graciously hosts RTA students.
