About Vault Capital
Vault Capital is a Canadian alternative credit and private lending firm that provides flexible financing solutions to businesses, consumers, and investors across Canada. Rather than operating like a traditional bank, Vault focuses on asset‑based and customized lending, helping clients access capital when conventional financing may be too slow or restrictive. The firm manages the full lending lifecycle in‑house, from origination and underwriting to servicing and capital allocation, allowing for faster decisions and tailored structures.
Vault specializes in alternative lending, meaning it provides financing outside of the traditional banking system. The company supports small‑ and mid‑sized businesses, real estate borrowers, and consumers by evaluating deals based on assets, cash flow, and real‑world business needs, not just credit scores. Vault also serves institutional and individual investors by originating and managing private credit portfolios designed to generate stable, risk‑adjusted returns.
Umair Saleem, Director, Vault Capital
Umair is a graduate of the Finance program at the Ted Rogers School of Management; currently he serves as Director, Vault Capital in Toronto.
Umair leads the capital deployment efforts for Vault’s Commercial Mortgage Fund. He manages the origination, underwriting and funding of capital in real estate transactions across Ontario, in all major real estate asset classes. Umair’s mandate is to provide strong market leading returns for private capital deployed in Vault’s variety of funds. Umair started his career at RBC by learning credit underwriting, portfolio management and risk assessment and gradually took on more complex transactions across industrial, multifamily, office, and mixed‑use properties.
Today, Umair’s role involves evaluating real‑world deals, working through uncertainty, and making judgment calls based on data, diligence, and experience. Umair will be sharing practical insights with students who are interested in finance, real estate, or commercial decision‑making.
