From Toronto to Madrid: Sport Media student thrives in Olympic Media Innovators Programme
Third-year Sport Media student Tiegan Clark recently took part in the renowned Olympic Media Innovators Programme (OMIP), an initiative that brings together ten up-and-coming women in sports media from around the world.
Hosted at the Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) and Olympic Channel Services (OCS) headquarters in Madrid, the immersive experience offered participants a behind-the-scenes look at the departments responsible for producing global Olympic coverage.

“Being one of the ten young women who had the chance to visit the OBS and OCS headquarters in Madrid was really special, and I will never forget the experience,” says Clark.
“Getting to see each department and what they do during game time was especially interesting, and when we shadowed some of the departments, I was able to write an article and it got published later that day.”

Her story, Ten-year-old Riley Sharpe: The British snowboarding phenom carving out a name for himself (external link, opens in new window) , was featured on the official Olympics website. The piece allowed Clark to combine her storytelling and production skills in a real-world Olympic context.
Now aspiring to become a camera operator, Clark says OMIP showed her “the path to being a camera op, especially as a woman, is not as far off as I thought.”
