The Creative School announces the appointment of new co-directors of Professional Music
The Creative School announced the appointment of Charlie Wall-Andrews and Laura Nenych to the position of co-directors of the Professional Music program effective July 1, 2023.
Charlie Wall-Andrews
Charlie Wall-Andrews is joining The Creative School as Assistant Professor in the School of Creative Industries. A Luminary in Canada's creative industries, Charlie Wall-Andrews is an esteemed scholar, educator, and pioneering music industry executive. She has earned her place among Canada's Top 100 Most Powerful Women, leaving an indelible mark on the nation's artistic landscape.
Charlie is completing her Ph.D. in Management at the Ted Rogers School of Management in 2023. Her areas of specialization are strategy, innovation and entrepreneurship. Her research aims to challenge the status quo by empirically addressing inequalities within the music industry. She was a visiting researcher at Stanford University and completed her MBA at the prestigious Ivey Business School and her music studies at York University.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Charlie currently serves on the Canada Council for the Arts Board of Directors and holds the distinguished position of inaugural Vice-Chair of Music Canada’s Advisory Council. She is an associate composer at the Canadian Music Centre. She has served on the jury for organizations such as JUNOs, FACTOR, Ontario Arts Council, and CIMA. Charlie is also the Executive Director of the SOCAN Foundation. In 2019, she was appointed a global Legacy Fellow for the esteemed Ariane de Rothschild Fellowship, an honour that showcases her unwavering commitment to social impact.
Laura Nenych
Dr. Laura Nenych is an Associate Professor and the Graduate Program Director of the Media Production MA program in the RTA School of Media. She also sits on TMU’s Research Ethics Board.
Dr. Nenych teaches in the areas of Television and Audio Production and the Music Industry among others. Her research interests relate to Online education, Educational technology, Media and faithformation, and Entertainment law and business. Her current research projects include (i) Faith-based Non-traditional Media Properties: An Exploration of Audience Faith Formation and Effective Monetization of Faith-Based Media, (ii) How AI is Revolutionizing the Music Industry, and (iii) Best Practices in Online Education.
