Language and Intercultural Relations Course Union (LIRCU)

The Language and Intercultural Relations Course Union (LIRCU) is a student-led organization that represents the educational, social and professional interests of all LIR students, within the Faculty of Arts and beyond. This is done through events and initiaives, in collaboration with other course unions, the LLC department or extrernal groups.

The LIRCU specifically supports students in Language and Intercultural Relations by building community, promoting professional development, and giving students a collective voice.

2025-2026 Orientation

The theme for the LIRCU's 2025 orientation was "Lost Languages of Atlantis". We had a variety of games and prizes for incoming students to partake in which required them to problem solve and collaborate!

Our prizes included school swag, snacks and board games!

Social Events Hosted Throughout the Year

The LIRCU has hosted a number of social events, directed towards giving students an opportunity to enjoy campus life. These events included a Halloween Collaboration between majority of the Faculty of Arts course unions.

As well as LIRCU mixers and holiday events.

Before the semester ends, the Course Union will be hosting a Flower Boutique Workshiop for International Women's Day and a variety of other social events.

Career Night

Every semester, the LIRCU hosts a Career Night pannel which features alumni and professionals from the LIR program or within relative fields.

In Fall 2025, we gathered professionals working in fields of Law, Education, Non-Profit, and Government. These professionals were able to answer insightful questions regarding post graduate pathways and become future connections for students.
