Displacement-Exile-Incarceration: The Case of Behrouz Boochani

This talk focuses the work of Behrouz Boochani in the framework of Cultural and Literary Studies: his 2018 book No Friend but the Mountains Writings From Manus Prison, his 2017 co directed film (with Arash Kamali Sarvestani) Chauka Please Tell Us the Time, his journalism, poetry and collaborative art projects. The Kurdish Iranian writer and journalist was held in indefinite detention on Manus Island in Papua New Guinea from 2013 to 2019 as part of the Australian government’s border regime. In November 2019 he escaped to New Zealand but his future remains uncertain.
